WASHINGTON - Over a year ago, the Washington Redskins were a struggling team headed towards a 4-12 season and another last place finish in the NFC East. The team's losing ways became so depressing that many fans wondered what they truly had to look forward to in the future.
On Nov. 16, 2014, the Redskins were on their way to another disappointing 27-7 loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that would end up winning only two games that year, tied for the worst record in the NFL.
It was that afternoon that our own Tony Perkins expressed his extreme displeasure of the state of his favorite NFL team, and after 45+ years as a fan, he was fed up and done with them.
But a lot of things have changed in the 14 months since then. The team hired a new general manager, made some very shrewd signings, had a full load of draft picks for the first time in years, and named Kirk Cousins the starting quarterback over incumbent Robert Griffin III. The changes led the Redskins to a 9-7 record, a division title and their first playoff appearance for the first time in three years.
The Redskins bandwagon is loading up again, and guess what? Tony Perkins is ready to say it again: "Hail to the Redskins!"
