Jillian Smith joined FOX 5 in June 2023 as a digital content producer. She is excited to be sharing the most important stories of the day across FOX 5’s digital platforms and social media.
After working for the syndicated television show The National Desk in Washington, D.C., Jillian returned to her roots in local news. Before making the move to the nation’s capital, she was the evening digital content producer for the FOX affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina for four years.
Her love of journalism started in high school when she began writing and interning with several print and online publications. Jillian went on to serve as editor-in-chief of the historically African-American newspaper The Nubian Message at North Carolina State University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in communication media (Go Pack!). She also received a Master’s degree in digital communication from Johns Hopkins University.
In her free time, Jillian enjoys cooking and baking, curling up with a good book and cuddling with her two dogs, Bella and Bailey. She’s happy to call the DMV home and loves exploring the best restaurants across the area.
