WASHINGTON - A man performing lawnmowing services along the Baltimore-Washington Parkway was fatally struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon.
The collision happened at around 3:45 p.m. The mower, who was a contractor of the National Park Service, was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center where he would later die from his injuries.
"Investigators have not yet determined if the motor vehicle left the roadway or the mower was not in the median at the time of the collision," U.S. Park Police said in a news release Tuesday.
The vehicle involved in the crash stayed at the scene.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The northbound lanes of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway were closed off following the accident, but later reopened at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Park Police said.
