Woman shot outside Southeast Safeway

A woman is recovering after being shot outside of a Safeway in Southeast. D.C. police said the shooting happened just before 4:00 p.m. along Alabama Avenue. Police believe the woman was not the intended target.

Authorities believe a woman shot outside of a Safeway supermarket in southeast D.C. Tuesday was an unintended target.

Police say the woman — who police have identified as Delores Ferguson —  was shot just before 4 p.m. in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue.

Ferguson was hospitalized. Her current condition is not known.

Officers are looking for a gray vehicle with heavy tinted windows. The investigation is continuing at this time.
