USPS employee arrested after allegedly shooting woman outside DC post office

An ongoing dispute is what reportedly led to a shooting between a United States Postal Service worker and a woman Monday in Northeast D.C. Police say the USPS worker fired several shots at the woman after what police say started as a domestic incident. FOX 5’s Tisha Lewis has more from Northeast.

Authorities say a United States Postal Service employee is in custody after allegedly shooting a woman Monday morning at a USPS processing and distribution center in Northeast D.C. 

The shooting was reported around 9:20 a.m. in the 900 block of Brentwood Road.

Hunter Lenz of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said that a domestic altercation spilled onto postal service property and led to the shooting.

USPS employee in custody after alleged shooting

Authorities say a United States Postal Service employee is in custody after allegedly shooting a woman Monday morning in northeast D.C. at a USPS processing and distribution center.

Lenz said the woman, who police have identified as 25-year-old Davida Johnson of Southeast, D.C., was arrested by U.S. Postal Inspectors and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. The woman shot was struck twice by gunfire and hospitalized. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Lenz also said Johnson left the scene but then returned. The Postal Inspection Service is working with federal and local law enforcement on the case. Lenz said the facility is open.
