'Domestic-related' homicide under investigation in Prince George's County, police say

Police in Prince George’s County are investigating after a woman was found dead following an alleged domestic violence attack.

Police in Prince George’s County are investigating after a woman was found dead following an alleged domestic violence attack.

Police say just before 12 p.m. Monday, the woman was found inside an apartment in the 300 block of Curtis Drive suffering from trauma to her body. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Homicide detectives spent the evening gathering forensic evidence and talking to neighbors in the Carriage Hill Apartment complex who were shocked to hear about the violent murder in their community.

"I'm mortified," neighbor Fallon Martin said. "I've never been around anything like this before. This is kind of scary and you know I just saw her yesterday playing don't football so the kids outside so she never made any problems."

Now, they’re wondering: who killed this woman and why?

"It's heartbreaking. I mean, not just to lose another Black woman or Black person…senseless, probably senseless. But I mean, this got to stop somewhere it's getting too close to home. If a woman's not safe in her own home and this happens in our home, where are we safe," another neighbor, Saleem Ali, told FOX 5.

Detectives say it’s believed she died in a "domestic-related incident" and they do not believe it was a random attack

Police have not released the woman’s name or age.

Right now, they’re trying to determine a motive in this case and urge anyone with information to call Prince George’s County police.
