White House locked down briefly due to man with gun
WASHINGTON - The White House was locked down briefly Saturday after reports of a man with a gun.
At around 1:12 p.m., a Secret Service officer noticed a man with a weapon holster walking on Pennsylvania Avenue near Madison place. The officer confronted the man, a brief struggle ensued and the man was then released.
The man was charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying Unregistered Ammunition, Resisting Arrest and Committing a Crime While Wearing a Mask, and taken to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The White House resumed normal operations shortly therafter.
