White House lit up in pink in honor of breast cancer awareness
WASHINGTON - October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the White House is doing its part to bring attention to it by being lit up in pink.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women exceeded only by lung cancer.
The American Cancer Society says about one in eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime.
In this year alone, more than 230,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
