The Fairfax County Police Department along with Fairfax County Public Schools are investigating claims of harassment involving players on the baseball team at West Potomac High School.

The allegations were first reported by CoveringtheCorridor.com.

In a letter from school principal Tanganyika Millard, parents were informed over the weekend of allegations of harassment involving members of the boy's baseball team. The letter says the allegations are serious in nature, but does not describe them specifically. The letter reads in part:

"My office and our SRO are currently conducting a thorough investigation into allegations of harassment and other inappropriate behavior that occurred on school property involving members of our boys baseball teams. We have been notifying parents and interviewing students to determine the validity of the allegations, which are serious in nature. There will be consequences associated with these actions, as our investigation leads us in that direction."

Parents told FOX 5 that several members of the team have been suspended during the investigation and did not play in the season opener at W.T. Woodson High School on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Fairfax County police said the Major Crimes Division was investigating the case, which it learned about in the past few days. More information is expected to be released if charges are filed.
