Virginia thrift store burglarized: Thief steals clothes, jewelry, TV

A man caught on camera smashing his way into a Northern Virginia thrift store last week made off with more than $2,500 in stolen goods, leaving the small business owner shaken and facing significant damage costs.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt shattering the "Thrift Lordes" window around 9:45 p.m. and taking off with the merchandise.

The thief, who has a full beard and mustache, used a hammer to break in before looting the store for shoes, clothing, jewelry, a TV, and even cash.

Owner Tobar Edeki said he was devastated by the break-in, which caused an estimated $3,300 in damages, including the cost of repairing the window. He shared his frustration with FOX 5, saying, "I’ve been trying to get my store out there, and then for this to happen, I’m like, why?"

Edeki believes the man in the video may have visited the store in the past but grew frustrated after being unable to negotiate lower prices. The suspect has not been seen since the incident.

Prince William County Police are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact them.

Despite the setback, Edeki remains determined to keep the store open and continue serving paying customers.
