VIDEO: Jennifer Wexton says she will look for bipartisan solutions in Congress

Democrat Jennifer Wexton reversed decades of history when she defeated incumbent Republican Barbara Comstock in the race for Virginia's 10th Congressional District.

The district had been controlled by the GOP for nearly 40 years and Wexton credited what she described as grassroots support for her success.

Despite a campaign that relied heavily on characterizing her opponent as an acolyte of President Donald Trump - her campaign ads memorably referred to Barbara Comstock as Barbara "Trumpstock" - Wexton says she will reach across the aisle.

"I have always been a proponent of working across the aisle. I spent the last four years in Richmond as a State Senator and passed over 40 bills - every single one of them with bipartisan support. Government works better when the two sides come together and find solutions instead of ramming through partisan agendas," Wexton said.

The 10th Congressional District's newly elected representative visited Good Day DC on Friday.
