NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Police in New York say a man armed with a gun tried to steal the coat right off of a teen walking down the street.
Police say it happened about 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday morning in Brooklyn.
The 16-year-old boy was walking down 61st St. when the man came up behind him, pulled a gun and demanded his coat. The victim refused and a struggle ensued.
Police say the man hit the teen with the gun numerous times. The victim suffered lacerations to his face and head as a result of the attack.
The guy didn't get the coat and ended up running away empty handed.
Police describe the suspect as black, 5'10"; last seen wearing a beige jacket, a gray hooded sweater, gray sweatpants and red boots or sneakers.
