Victim shot during attempted robbery near Dunbar High describes attack
WASHINGTON - D.C. police are still searching for three teenagers accused of shooting a man during an attempted robbery near Dunbar High School.
The man, who was shot twice in the stomach and hip, is now recovering at an undisclosed location after being discharged from the hospital.
Surveillance video released by D.C. police detectives shows the suspects, dressed in hooded sweatshirts and masks, approaching the man around 3:30 p.m. on O Street Northwest about a month ago.
The suspects demanded the victim's bag, but when he fought back, one of the teens pulled out a gun and shot him.
The victim, who spoke exclusively to FOX 5's Shomari Stone, described the painful experience.
"It’s just uncomfortable, recovering from my surgery ... One of them had a gun, and they had reached for my bag, and I was just trying to stop them from getting into my bag because that had all of my valuables in it, my ID, and my phone and stuff," he said. "What’s the point? You tried to rob me in broad daylight, like no one was going to see anything."
The police are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the suspects' arrest and conviction.
