ROCKVILLE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Getting around in Montgomery County is about to get a lot easier.
The county is introducing a pilot program where riders can use the ridesharing app Via to help supplement its public transportation system.
Starting in mid-June, for a flat rate of only two dollars, you can request a ride using the app and an 11 passenger van will then take you to the bus stop, metro station or anywhere you need to go in the county.
There will only be four vehicles split between two separate parts of Montgomery County -- Rockville and Wheaton.
The program will last for an entire year. If successful, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation says it will expand it throughout the entire county.
