Car crashes into Leesburg gun store during overnight burglary

In a matter of minutes, masked men crashed a car into a Northern Virginia gun store, stole several guns and took off. FOX 5’s Tisha Lewis is in Leesburg with the story.

The search is on for four suspects who robbed a Leesburg gun store after ramming a car through the front door in the early morning hours Thursday, police say.

Police say the robbery took place at Loudoun County Guns. Officers responded to the shop in the 300 block of Industrial Court, SE around 4 a.m. following reports about a loud noise.

When they arrived, police found a silver sedan smashed against the front of the shop. Officers searched the building but no one was found inside.

After investigating, police determined that after the car slammed into the building, four masked suspects jumped out and stole several long guns from the store.

They took off, leaving the car lodged into the front of the building. Piles of plywood now lay where the door once was.

"It’s shocking because they have a lot of security prepared for an event like this," one Leesburg neighbor told FOX 5.

FOX 5 has learned there have been several robberies in this shopping center. Business owners say they are continually increasing their security systems.
