Two off-duty DC firefighters charged with assault on DC police officer

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) -- Two DC firefighters were arrested Sunday following an altercation with DC Police.

DC Fire and EMS says Courtney Barnes and Kimberly Gorham were both off-duty when they were involved in an altercation with law enforcement during the early morning hours of July 14.

Barnes and Gorham have been charged with Simple Assault/Assault on a Police Officer.

DC Fire officials say both firefighters have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.

Barnes joined the DC Fire Department in 2007 and was assigned to Engine Company 23 on the 2nd Platoon at the time of his arrest, officials say.

Meanwhile, officials say Gorham joined the department in 2016 and was assigned to Engine Company 23 on the 3rd Platoon at the time of her arrest.
