HERNDON, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Two Maryland men are behind bars for an armed robbery at a business in the Town of Herndon Monday, according to police. The robbery led to a shooting involving a Herndon Police officer.

Police say Edward Raul Mejia Sandoval, 22 and Manuel Enrique Casco, 34, entered the business in the 700 block of Elden Street and displayed a handgun before demanding money. The two men assaulted two female employees in the process, police say.
After the robbery, police say an officer encountered Sandoval and Casco as they were running from the business.
The officer chased the suspects on foot when police say one of the men displayed a handgun before an exchange of gunfire ensued between the officer and the suspect. No injuries were reported in the shooting.
Sandoval was taken into custody quickly after the shootout. Casco was arrested a short time later following an armed carjacking in the 1000 block of Elden Street.
Police say a handgun was recovered during an investigation.

Sandoval was charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of threatening to abduct with the intent to defile. Casco was charged with robbery, carjacking and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police say both men were taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where they are currently being held without bond.
