Suspicious package reported on west side of U.S. Capitol building cleared

Officers report that the suspicious package in question has been cleared and everything is safe.

The initial report of a suspicious package on the west side of the U.S. Capitol building came at around 11:25 a.m. After a thorough investigation, the package was cleared. 

Officials say Pennsylvania Avenue NW between First and Third Streets NW along with First Street between Constitution Avenue NW and Maryland Avenue SW are open to traffic.
