Suspect in custody after 1 killed, 2 wounded in Silver Spring shooting: police
SILVER SPRING, Md. - Authorities say one person was killed, and two others were wounded in a shooting in Montgomery County.
The shooting was reported just before 11 p.m. Monday in the 14300 block of Fairdale Road across from Fairland Elementary School in Silver Spring.
FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick says police received a call reporting an armed robbery at a home on the block. The caller told police someone had broken in to the residence and that a person had been shot.
When officers arrived they found two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening.
Alnwick said a third male victim was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds at a nearby location and was transported to the hospital.
Alnwick reports that an officer's cruiser was struck by a vehicle driven by a person police are calling a suspect. as they were fleeing the scene. That person was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered. The officer received medical attention, but the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.
