SUFFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Suffolk police are investigating an incident involving a man who pretended to be a police officer.
Police say a man dressed as a police officer stopped a motorist just before 11 p.m. on Sept. 13. Police say he was driving a black or blue Chevrolet Impala with flashing blue lights.
Police say the man asked the motorist for his identification and registration, and later let the man go but kept his driver's license.
Police say they have been investigating to see if this man had been working with another jurisdiction, and the investigation is ongoing.
Police are warning people in the area to be cautious of anyone claiming to be an officer in an unmarked vehicle without built-in lights.
