Stretch of Route 355 in Gaithersburg reopens after overnight crash

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - A portion of Route 355 has reopened after being closed in both directions between Walker Avenue and Maryland Avenue in Gaithersburg following a single-car crash overnight. Wires were down near the crash scene, and as a result, Route 355 was partially closed through the early afternoon.

Montgomery County authorities said the crash that led to the closure happened around 12:30 a.m., when a car hit a utility poll near Chestnut Street.

There's no word on what led to the crash and no information was immediately available about any injuries to the occupant or occupants of the involved car.
