St. John’s College High School basketball coach's off-court battle with ALS

A former college basketball player turned coach in the DMV is now facing one of his toughest challenges yet. Patrick Behan was diagnosed with ALS four months ago. FOX 5's Jacqueline Matter spoke with the coach and his players about his journey ahead.

"It's a team award: players and coaches. But it's nice to be recognized by your peers," he told FOX 5.

Back in September, Coach Behan revealed he had been diagnosed with ALS but said he wouldn't let it get in the way of his passion.

In front of a packed crowd at American University's Bender Arena, Coach Behan's Cadets defeated the St. Paul VI Catholic High School Panthers 65-63 Monday in the WCAC Boy's Championship game.
