Special education teacher indicted on child pornography charges

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — Prosecutors say a Maryland special education teacher has been indicted for possessing and distributing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say 61-year-old Peter Flynn of Silver Spring was arrested Friday. Prosecutors said Flynn is a special education teacher at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School.

Prosecutors say that if convicted Flynn faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years in prison on the pornography distribution charge. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if convicted of possessing child pornography. The two-count indictment alleges Flynn distributed child pornography on April 3, 2014 and possessed it on Sept. 30, 2014.

No attorney was listed for Flynn in court records. A telephone message left at a listing for him was not immediately returned Friday.
