A leadership shakeup may soon impact the Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department.

FOX 5 has learned from two independent sources that Prince George's County Fire/EMS Chief Deputy Tiffany D. Green is expected to be appointed fire chief in an announcement Tuesday.

If appointed, Green will be the first black woman to lead the fire department in the history of the county.

On November 29, 2018, then Prince George's County Executive-Elect Angela Alsobrooks announced Green's appointment as the Chief Deputy of the Fire/EMS Department, according to a press release.

Green began her career as a firefighter with the PGFD in March 1999 after serving as a volunteer for the Oxon Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
