Smithfield hog truck overturns in Virginia

SMITHFIELD, Va. - A hog truck overturned early Wednesday morning in Smithfield, according to Virginia State Police.

The truck overturned at around 4:30 a.m. at the 13100 block of Four Square Road near Courthouse Highway in Isle of Wight County.

The truck was en route to Smithfield Foods when it overturned.

According to police, there were no injuries to the driver, 23-year-old Brian Crockett, from Franklin, Virginia.

Police say Crockett was driving on Route 620 when the truck ran off the roadway, and he overcorrected, causing the truck to overturn.

Police say Crockett was charged with reckless driving/failure to maintain proper control of his vehicle.

FOX 5 has reached out to Smithfield Foods for the number of injuries and deaths of hogs that were on the truck but has not heard back.
