EASTON, M.d. (FOX 5 DC) - The U.S. Navy has confirmed that a Midshipman was piloting a small plane when it crashed in rural Maryland on Thursday.
The small plane went down around 11:15 a.m. near Easton Airport in Easton, Md. – in Talbot County.

The Navy says the Midshipman was flown to a shock trauma center in Baltimore, and their injuries are not life threatening.
No one else was on board the plane.
The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police, the Easton Police Department and the Talbot County Department of Emergency Services also responded to the scene.

The Navy says the Midshipman was piloting the craft as part of the Powered Flight Program, which gives participants who might be interested in becoming aviators an opportunity to fly.
The Midshipman’s identity has been withheld for privacy reasons.
