Sheriff’s office IDs man killed in Spotsylvania double shooting

The Spotsylvania County sheriff’s office has released the identity of a man who was shot and killed in a double shooting Monday night.

Police found 18-year-old James Michael Wallin suffering from gunshot wounds when they responded to a reported shooting in the 9900 block of Matti Hill Court on Wednesday.

According to the sheriff’s office, the responding deputies worked to save the victim, but he died at the scene.

Shortly after that, they say a shooting victim reportedly arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. When he was taken into the hospital, the second victim – who police have not identified – was in critical condition.

After being transferred to another hospital due to the extent of his injuries, that second victim is now listed in serious, but stable condition.

Investigators say both victims were shot during the same incident.

They have not released any suspect information, but police say they believe the incident is isolated.
