WASHINGTON - Police say two service dogs are safe after they were taken by two 15-year-olds during a car theft in Northwest near the U Street corridor Wednesday afternoon.
Cheverly Police said the teens who stole the car hit another car on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and kept driving into Prince George’s County.
Cheverly Police said the teens parked the car in a Cheverly neighborhood and took off.

The initial car theft happened in the 2000 block of 12th Street NW around 12:20 p.m.
Jennet Inglis tells FOX 5 that two teens pushed her to the ground and pried the keys from her hand, injuring her.
The dogs in the car are named Sophie and Lily: a white and gray Shih Tzu and a black mini poodle.
Inglis said people nearby rushed to help her and stop the car thieves.
"All that comes back for me is this amazing display of humanity," Inglis said. "And I’m a spiritual person so I just really, my heart knew that no one could harm our beautiful dogs. Who would do something like that? They’re such lovely little things."
Inglis said about two and a half hours passed before the car was found in Cheverly.
Inglis said the dogs are service dogs, one of them for her autism.
She said she and her wife came to D.C. from Virginia for the day.

Inglis went to the hospital to be treated for injuries on her torso and hand.
She said she hasn’t lost faith in the city despite the ordeal and wants to thank everyone who came to help her both in D.C. and in Maryland.
Cheverly police said they arrested three teens as they were returning to the car.
"The whole neighborhood stepped in to help and call the police," Inglis said. "They spotted the teenagers and the car immediately. I am so grateful to that neighborhood."
