Residents rescued from flooded apartments in Rockville as remnants of Ida move across DC region
Officials say multiple occupants were rescued from their flooded Rockville apartments as heavy rain moved across the D.C. region Wednesday.
ROCKVILLE, Md. - The power of the remnants of what was Hurricane Ida were in full force Wednesday morning at the Congressional Towers in Rockville as rain waters rushed into the building leaving some occupants trapped and many facing flood damage.

Round one of the storm moved through during the early morning hours with a force so strong that some vehicles were pushed and moved around the parking lot of the apartment complex.

Inside some of the terrace level – or ground level apartments – emergency crews told FOX 5’s Bob Barnard that they rescued occupants form 20 units after flood waters rushed inside. Barnard said some of the flood waters were as deep as three feet. The Red Cross is on the scene providing assistance to residents in need.
Some residents told Barnard that their belongings were covered in mud from the storm water. Images from the scene show a metal exterior door that had been bent on its hinges as water gushed through.
Barnard say gas service to the building and electric service to the ground floors has been disabled while the damage is being addressed.
