Concern after off-campus sex assault near UMD
Prince George’s County Police are investigating a sex assault near the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Prince George’s County Police are investigating a sexual assault near the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park.
UMD Police indicated that the incident occurred at College Avenue and Columbia Avenue on Sunday night.
According to police, a woman was walking in the area at around 8:30 p.m. when someone came up behind her, knocked her to the ground and then sexually assaulted her before taking off on foot.
In an alert, UMD Police said the suspect headed in the direction of a playground.
The victim received medical attention at the hospital Tuesday, police say.
