Prince George's Co. carjacking suspect fatally shot by police after pursuit into DC

A suspect believed to be involved in an armed carjacking in Prince George's County was shot and killed after leading police on a high-speed pursuit into Southeast D.C. Monday night.

Prince George's County police say the carjacking occurred at around 7:15 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of River Bend Road in Fort Washington.

Prince George's County police and Forest Heights police pursued the stolen vehicle to the 2800 block of Gainesville Street where the suspect crashed his vehicle. After he got out of the vehicle, there was an exchange of gunfire and the suspect was wounded by police.

The suspect was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A police source has told FOX 5's Marina Marraco that he has died.

Prince George's County police say Officers Christopher Malinowski and Anthony Sciaretta are both on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

No officers were injured, police say.
