PLAINS, Ga. - Former President Jimmy Carter is dealing with the sudden death of one of his grandsons.
Carter announced at his church in Plains on Sunday that his 28-year-old grandson, Jeremy Carter, passed away. The former President told fellow church members at Maranatha Baptist that Jeremy wasn't feeling well on Saturday and went to lie down at his parent's home. Carter added that when Jeremy's mother went to check on him, she discovered that his heart had stopped.
A family member performed CPR on Jeremy, but was unsuccessful, according to Carter. Jeremy was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
His cause of death has not been released.
