Police: Uber driver abducted by man carrying drugs, large amount of money

A 26-year-old female Uber driver was abducted in Woodbridge Tuesday afternoon by a man she had picked up as a passenger, according to Prince William County police.

Police said a friend of the Uber driver called police just before 1 p.m. Tuesday reporting that the driver had picked up a passenger, later identified as 26-year-old Harpreet Singh Sandhu. During the incident, Sandhu refused to get out of the Uber driver's vehicle and forced her to drive to several locations around Woodbridge. The victim also determined Sandhu was in possession of drugs and a large amount of money.

After police were contacted, officers were able to locate and stop the victim's vehicle in the area of Minnieville Road and General Washington Drive where the man was arrested. Police said they recovered marijuana, prescription pills and money from Sandhu.

Sandhu is faces charges of abduction, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule IV narcotic and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

He is being held without bond and is scheduled to be in court on May 1.
