CHARLES COUNTY, Md. - The Charles County Sheriff's Office say a man killed a woman by running over her with a forklift early Sunday morning.
On July 2 at 12:40 a.m., officers responded to the Lowe's Home Improvement store in the 2500 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of a burglary in progress.
According to witnesses, the suspect broke into Lowe's, stole a forklift and fled by ramming the gates, heading towards the parking lot of Home Depot on Jefferson Farm Place.
Police say Bryce Caleb Timothy Brown, 20, rammed a vehicle that was parked in the Home Depot parking lot. A woman who was asleep in the car got out and began running away. Brown followed her, struck her with the forklift and ran over her, according to police.
The victim has been identified as Gloristine Pinkney, 73, of Waldorf. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown and Pinkney do not know each other, according to police.
Police arrested Brown Sunday evening. The victim's vehicle was found near Brown's house.
Brown has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault, theft and other related charges. He is currently being held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond.
