Police searching for man who allegedly followed woman into Columbia Heights apartment, exposed himself

D.C. Police are looking for a man who they say followed a woman into her apartment building, exposed himself, and made unwanted advances towards her.

Police say the incident happened at the Cromwell Apartments in Columbia Heights early Tuesday morning at around 2 a.m.

The man is seen on surveillance video trailing the woman to an elevator where he allegedly made an unwanted advance while exposing himself.

At that point, police say the woman rushed back towards the lobby, began to scream, and ultimately called her husband for help as the suspect left the building.

“It’s terrible because I live in this building. You know, it could’ve been me," said Willette Simmons.

Apartment management told FOX 5 they’re extremely concerned and have increased security since the incident happened.
