Police search for missing man with special needs last seen during trip to Smithsonian

Police are searching for a 34-year-old Silver Spring man with special needs who went missing while visiting the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

Samly Keosiphanseang became separated from his chaperone while visiting the museum around 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Family members say they have not been able to get in touch with him since. Police say Keosiphanseang, who is from Silver Spring, functions at the level of an 8-year-old and is non-verbal.

Keosiphanseang is an Asian male, 5-foot-6-inches tall, 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Family members say he was wearing a t-shirt with pictures of a cat and an owl on it and with the word 'MEOWL' printed across the front, white shorts, and white Nike shoes when he was last seen.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
