Police say NE sex assault cases may be related

Police are investigating two sex assault cases in northeast D.C. that they say may be related.

The first happened on Tuesday, July 28 at around 10:45 p.m. in the Unit Block of Riggs Road. The second happened on Friday, August 28 around 12:08 a.m. in the 1500 block of Michigan Avenue.

Investigators say both cases involved a black male, in his 20s to 30s, with a medium to dark complexion, 6' to 6'2" in height, with facial hair.

The victims in both cases tell police that the suspect was armed with a knife and that he fled the scene on a dark colored bicycle.

Police say in one case the victim was robbed and that both victims had exited Metro stations at Fort Totten and Brookland/CUA prior to the assaults.
