FREDERICK, Md - The Frederick County Sheriff's Office is now asking for the public's assistance in helping to identify a suspect believed to be involved in the shooting at Jackson's Chapel in the 5600 block of Ballenger Creek Pike in Frederick on Saturday, April 20th, 2019.
On Saturday, April 20th, 2019,at approximately 2:45 p.m., the Frederick County Sheriff's Office responded to Jackson's Chapel in the 5600 block of Ballenger Creek Pike in Frederick after receiving calls reporting a shooting. There was a funeral service taking place at the time of the incident.
Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene and learned of two victims suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries are unknown at this time, but believed to be non-life threatening. Witnesses reported that the suspect had fled the area prior to emergency personnel arriving.
While the suspect has not yet been located, the Sheriff's Office does not believe this to be a random shooting. Police believe the shooting was a direct result of an altercation between individuals at the service.
