GERMANTOWN, Md. - Montgomery County police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Germantown Wednesday night.
Police say they received a call about the shooting in the 18600 block of Sage Way at around 7:14 p.m. Responding officers located a man on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds nearby a home in the area.
The victim, 30-year-old Robert Wayne King of Frederick, was transported to a local trauma center where he later died from his injuries.
A neighbor who was in her home at the time of the shooting told FOX 5 she heard 15 to 20 shots fired in rapid succession. When she went outside, she saw one of her neighbors cradling a young man's head in her lap.
Violence in this neighborhood is not uncommon, according to this neighbor. She said earlier this summer, there was a fight that occurred at a home and spread into the parking lot.
Police said they are aware of the trouble happening in this neighborhood and they have been called here for drug-related activity in the past.
