Police looking for answers after DC officer dies in motorcycle crash in Prince George's County
WASHINGTON - Police are looking for answers after D.C. police officer Jamal Shaw was killed in a motorcycle crash in Prince George's County Friday.
Prince George's County police say they're looking to speak with anyone who witnessed or has information regarding the crash, which happened around 3:25 p.m. Friday in the 9100 block of Piscataway Road in Clinton.
According to police, they say 27-year-old Shaw, a three-year veteran of D.C. police, was on a motorcycle and was traveling westbound on Piscataway Road.
According to investigators, a car that was also going westbound changed lanes in front of Shaw, which forced him to take "evasive action " and caused his motorcycle to fall over and slide on its side.
Police say Shaw was then struck by another car heading eastbound. They say he was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead. The driver of the striking car was not hurt and remained on the scene. However, police are now actively working to identify the driver who changed lanes in front of the victim.
Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation is urged to call Prince George's County police at (301) 731-4422.
