Police investigating deadly double shooting in District Heights near Suitland H.S.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Police are investigating a double shooting that left a man dead Monday afternoon in District Heights near Suitland High School.

According to a preliminary investigation, police say a suspect shot two victims, a man and a woman, outside of a townhome in the 5200 block of Daventry Terrace at 1:40 p.m.

Investigators believe the suspect and victims knew each other.

Police called this incident a barricade situation out of an abundance of caution as they continued their investigation. They asked all residents in the area to stay indoors as the situation evolved.

Drew Freeman Middle School and Suitland H.S. were placed on lockdown during the investigation.

Police say the man has died of his injuries in the shooting. The woman's condition is unknown at this time.
