Police investigate stabbing, shooting at Union Station
WASHINGTON - The Metropolitan Police Department began their statement on a police-involved shooting at Union Station by stressing that the incident was "not an act of terrorism or in any way related to the acts of terrorism in France."
Police were called to Union Station in Northeast Washington on Saturday evening for a report of a shooting inside the station involving an off-duty police officer.
Upon arrival, police located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, a female with a gunshot wound to the ankle and another female with a facial wound.
The male was transported to a local hospital, where he is under police guard. Both women were treated at local hospitals and released.
Police say that an off-duty police officer employed in Maryland saw a male suspect stabbing a female inside the station and confronted him. The suspect was shot multiple times by the officer, at which time a non-involved witness was struck and hurt in the ankle.
The stabbing attack was not random, according to police, and appears to have been a domestic dispute.
Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the event or have information about the facts and circumstances to call the Metropolitan Police Department on (202) 727-9099. Anonymous information may be submitted to the department's TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
