Police investigate fatal stabbing, burglary at Springfield shopping center

SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Fairfax County police say a man is dead after being stabbed in an apparent altercation between patrons at a pool hall in Springfield. They also say the suspect in that homicide went on to break into a business in the same popular shopping center.

Officers were called to Revolution Darts and Billiards, which is in the 7200 block of Commerce Street, just after 2 a.m. for reports of an injured man on the ground outside.

That man, identified by officials as 29-year-old Kieron Hart, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Around the same time, police were also called for a possible burglary on the other side of the shopping center, in the 6400 block of Springfield Plaza. They say a man was seen breaking into a business, and officers found him outside.

The suspect, identified by police as 30-year-old Jay Fasick, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Fairfax County police confirmed the two incidents were indeed related. They said Hart and Fasick were involved in a fight in the alley behind the billiards, and that resulted in Hart's death. That's when officers said Fasick apparently ran over to the Pet Valu store on the other side of the shopping center and broke in.

Authorities said it was unclear if Hart and Fasick knew each other, but confirmed both were patrons of the pool hall. They also said it was unclear if Fasick was injured during the fight or during the break in.

The investigation into what led to the deadly fight continues.
