A man is dead after a shooting in Montgomery Village Friday afternoon.

Montgomery County police say just after 2 p.m., several people called 911 to report a shooting that happened in the 8500 block of Hawk Run Terrace. When officers arrived, a male victim was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in between two cars in the parking lot of the neighborhood. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, investigators do not believe that this shooting was a random event; investigators believe that the victim had agreed to meet the suspect(s) at that location.

The homicide victim is being identified as Wassi Harron Raheem Young, age 20, of Vermont Avenue in Hyattsville.

During the investigation, detectives learned that a 23-year-old male had arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. Investigators spoke with this male and determined that he was shot during the same incident in which the homicide victim, Young, was shot.

A woman who was inside her townhouse on the street said she heard an argument and it was very loud before she heard a number of gunshots. She looked out her window and saw two men running. One of them was described as wearing dark clothing and carrying a handgun, she said. Another witness told FOX 5's Paul Wagner that he heard approximately seven shots ring out.

A SWAT team was called in to the area and a police spokesperson said they went to a house nearby to where the victim was found. At least five people inside the home were taken into custody for questioning.

"Investigators also located some potential witnesses within a home adjacent to the parking lot where the victim was located," said Montgomery County Police Capt. Paul Starks. "They have been taken into investigative detention so we can interview them and determine what part anyone of those individuals may have played or may be just a witness."

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Montgomery County police's Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
