Police investigate deadly shooting in Camp Springs
CAMP SPRINGS, Md. - Police in Prince George's County are investigating a deadly shooting of a man inside his own apartment in Camp Springs.
Prince George's County police say 29-year-old Franklin Young was gunned down inside his third floor unit at the Carmel Midtown Square apartments. It happened at around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 4300 block of West Village Avenue.
According to police sources, a group of three to four men shot Young inside his apartment and then stormed out. The men were described as being between 25 to 30 years old and were dressed in all black, wearing hoodies and hospital masks. Detectives believe they took off in a vehicle.
They are currently reviewing surveillance video and looking to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the attack.
"Preliminarily, it did not appear to be a random act," said Prince George's County Police Officer Tyler Hunter. "We are asking for the community's help in this one. Anybody that may have been in the area at about 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. last night, we're asking any detail, anyone who might have been in the area. No detail is too small."
More than half a dozen detectives went door to door Wednesday looking for witnesses less than 24 hours after the shooting.
A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
