SEAT PLEASANT, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Police have released the identity of a man who died after being shot in a Seat Pleasant Discount Mart store on Wednesday.
Police believe 49-yeard-old Joseph Dance of Riversdale was shoplifting when a store employee stopped him.
The store employee was wearing his badge, and his firearm was clearly displayed, according to police.
They say Dance punched and struck the employee before he was shot once. Dance died after he was taken to the hospital.
The entire incident was caught on surveillance camera, according to police.
The employee has not been charged with any crime, and the police are working with the Prince George's County State's Attorney's office.
