Police: Driver fled officers, drove wrong way on Interstate 95 and struck several vehicles

Police say the diver of a van they say was stolen, who at one point was headed the wrong way on Interstate 95, was taken into custody after crashing into three other vehicles then running off the road.

Officers say the incident began around 8:30 a.m. on New Hampshire Avenue and Ednor Road in the Silver Spring area.

Authorities say the driver, an adult male, was in the Laurel area near Interstate 95 and Route 198 when he crashed into three vehicles then drove off the road into a wooded area. At one point, police say the vehicle was being driven the wrong way on Interstate 95.

Police say the driver bailed out of the vehicle but he was quickly apprehended by police. They say no injuries were reported and the crashes appeared to be minor.

No charges have been released at this time.
