Four teens arrested after Germantown shooting and police chase; 1 gun recovered

Four teenagers were arrested Monday evening following a shooting and police chase in Gaithersburg, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.

The suspects, identified as three 15-year-old boys and one 16-year-old boy, were taken into custody. Two of the 15-year-olds were released to their parents after being processed at a Germantown police station.

The 16-year-old was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries before being released to his parent.

The fourth suspect, who was also 15 years old, was chased down and bitten by a K9 unit.

During a search, officers said they discovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun on him. He was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and then taken into the custody of the Department of Juvenile Services, where he faces additional charges for possession of a firearm.

On Monday, the department said officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 4:52 p.m. in the 19200 block of Circle Gate Drive in Germantown. Upon arrival, they found multiple shell casings and determined that two apartments and a vehicle had been struck by bullets.

No injuries were reported.
