Two roads in a Potomac neighborhood have remained shut down for hours as police are continuing to negotiate with a person experiencing an apparent mental health crisis.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, Potomac Tennis Lane and Falls Road are still closed as officers continue to assist a person in distress.

It’s believed the incident began somewhere in the early morning hours Monday morning, before 2 a.m., a spokesperson for the police department says.

Police say they are actively trying to deescalate the situation and resolve it safely. They add that there is no threat to the community but drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
