ATLANTA - Photos of a fourth-grade paraprofessional at an Atlanta public school sparked debate across the country.
Patrice Brown's personal photos posted to her Instagram account went viral. FOX 5 accessed the photos from various websites online including The Daily Dot, Media Take Out News and Vibe. The debate is about whether the photos are too sexy for a teacher. Others are asking whether Brown is being held to a different standard because of her body type.
On Facebook Jay Joel wrote: "All I see is a beautiful young woman who is out there to do her job."
Sully Jimenez: "I didn't think there was anything wrong with her attire. She has a figure. Everything is going to look sexy on her. Stop hating. Give the women some props."
Zion-Anaya Flippin: "Nice, but not for that type of environment. I am a teacher assistant for high school. I am thick and curvy, but I dare to wear anything that is tight fitting like that to work. That is for the club."
C.J. Mattice: "I don't feel it's appropriate attire for a teacher. I think it sets an example for girls that it's OK to put yourself on display."
Atlanta Public Schools sent this statement to FOX 5:
"Atlanta Public Schools can confirm that Patrice Brown is a paraprofessional employed with the district. She was given guidance regarding the APS employee dress code, the use of social media, and Georgia Code of Ethics for Educators, and she has been cooperative in addressing her presence on social media."
Brown's Instagram page is now private. She has more than 125,000 followers. FOX 5 reached out to Brown for a comment, but did not hear back.
